The current world record striped bass ( salt water) was caught off of a jetty in Atlantic City, N.J. on September 21,1982 by Albert McReynolds. It weighed 78 pounds 8 ounces, and had a length of 53 inches and girth of 34 1/2 inches. This fish was estimated to be about 36 years old and was caught on a surf-casted 5 1/2" rebel black-back silver minnow lure. It took Al 1 hour, 40 mins. to land this fish on pink colored 20 lb. test monofilament line.
