The story of Dyson Appliances is quite remarkable in several respects. This is the story of how a revolutionary idea was developed into a successful, market leading product. Starting out in 1978 with an experiment on his domestic vacuum cleaner, James Dyson, already a successful designer, developed an idea for a radical innovation in technology that would eliminate the use of the bag in vacuum cleaners. At the heart of this innovation was a cyclonic filtration system that enabled the dirt to be separated from the air flow, without slowing down the flow, thereby ensuring that the efficiency of the cleaner was not reduced. The company claimed that their products were the most efficient cleaners in the world and as a result sales have grown rapidly until they are now one of the leading manufactures of vacuum cleaners in the world.
The company owes its success to the patented technology, which enable the cleaners to work so efficiently and to the talents of the inventor, James Dyson, of course.
