The Fur Takers of America (“FTA”) oppose the efforts of the Department of Natural Resource (the “DNR”) to further restrict the sale of coyotes in Indiana. The FTA’s Indiana State Coordinator, Tim Rose, who traps coyotes for both the fur and live market, believes that the DNR’s rule proposal is contrary to existing law and a disservice to Hoosiers. “This discussion ought to be about predator control policies and the use of renewable natural resources. Instead, through misinformation and emotion, which the DNR has exploited, we have people thinking that Indiana’s coyote trappers need further regulation and the coyote needs protection.”
