Description

As the guardian of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA), the Endangered Species Coalition (ESC) speaks on endangered species issues for some 360 environmental, conservation, religious, scientific, humane, sporting and business groups around the country. Our tools are public education, scientific information and citizen participation in all decisions affecting the fate of threatened and endangered species. Through extensive grassroots work, education, discussions with lawmakers, and the dissemination of information, we work to ensure that the Act itself as well as the species it protects, can be passed on safely into the future.

The Endangered Species Act of 1973 is not just our country's strongest environmental law. It is also a noble vision: in it, the legislators of a great nation said - - for the first time in world history - - that they would do everything in their power to prevent the extinction of any species of plant or animal within our borders.

As the guardian of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA), the ESC exists not only to defend and protect the ESA, but also to ensure that this vision becomes a reality.
