Title
Wood and Stone Sculpture by William Kolok, Sculptor
Description
William Kolok is a sculptor who creates art in wood and stone. His work ranges from intimate sculptures for the home or office to garden sculptures; from abstract stone or wood in corporate headquarters to large outdoor pieces suited for sculpture parks. Religious works include 14 wooden crosses for a Methodist church, a 7’ limestone font, and an 8’ limestone, alabaster and cherry wood tabernacle for a Catholic chapel.
As a seasoned artist, Kolok’s roots can be found in New England and in Kentucky where he has lived for the last 20 years. The form, shape and texture of alabaster, limestone and marble have an affect on Kolok. The stone carver in him finds pleasure in the resistance and struggle of these materials.
Bill’s commissions include churches, a health park, and most recently two pieces for the Owensboro Sculpture Park. He has begun a delightful series of smaller works based on the pear. Bill is also a college professor and the director of many stone carving workshops.
