St. Francis Hospital, founded in 1956, is a 260-bed, general acute care hospital that specializes in laser/laparoscopic surgery, cardiac care (including catherization, angioplasty, electrophysiology, and surgery services), orthopedics for children and adults, women's health services (including obstetrics and prenatal assessment center), neurology, diabetes, 24-hour emergency services, outpatient services, cancer care, plastic surgery, community health education, sports medicine, and the Work Performance Center offering work injury rehabilitation, spine center and wellness programs.
The hospital is nationally and internationally recognized for its outstanding cardiac program. Additional services include: a Level II neonatal nursery on the obstetrical unit; Fast Track in the emergency department; palliative care services on the oncology unit; and an additional newly opened Cardiac Catherization Lab with full cardiac and filmless digital archiving capabilities.
Advanced surgical technology includes a cerebral brain oximeter, the first of its kind in Wisconsin, that measures oxygen to the brain during critical heart surgeries. This technology is crucial to the prevention of strokes following surgery.
