Steps.eu.com is Acompnay that provides therapy for people with aphasia
Title
StepByStep Words 3.0 provides word-finding therapy for people with aphasia. Aphasia is a language disorder, where there is a partial or total loss of the ability to communicate verbally, or by the written word. It is a common problem following a stroke or head injury.
Description
StepByStep Words allows repetitive practise of word finding in errorless exercises, where the target words are presented with a series of cues to assist with retrieval. The cues are used to gradually allow the client to move from single word retrieval through to output in connected speech. This type of therapy is known as impairment therapy, and it is important to target those words that are most important to the person with aphasia, so that any progress made is transferred to their communicative environment.
Version 3.0 introduced the ability to add vocabulary and photographs, so that a client could work on the words most important to them. There were also significant improvements to content selection, so that clients would be able to use the system in their own home with minimal clinician input.
Version 4.0 introduces videos of word production to help clients with apraxia, and sequenced therapy, allowing a client to work in a series of steps from sound production, through word production to sentence production.
