The Norwegian center for stem cell research was founded in 2003 after receiving a strategic research grant from The Research Council of Norway.
Stem cells are increasingly providing a promising platform for a broad spectrum of human diseases and it is now thought that stem cell-based therapies hold substantial potential for curing diseases and injuries. More information on stem cells (in Norwegian) here.
To be a scientific network that carries out basic and applied research on stem cells. A particular focus is on the use of stem cells for regenerative medicine. In addition, implications of stem cell biology on cancer development are studied.
