Derek Smith Music Productions is a business dedicated to providing the best musical entertainment in the Latin Jazz and Caribbean styles. With so many talents and so many options for live music, we bring together a special skill of deciding what is appropriate for an event. Since steel drum music is our strength, we focus on making it available to others for their special ocassions, allowing them to hear and learn about what is a foreign instrument for many people. Always striving to make better music, our musicians leave events feeling accomplished in their job and complimented for their quality.
Derek Smith manages several bands reflecting each of his musical strengths and interests. Performing on steel drums for the majority of his performances, his talent isn't limited to the pan. His credits also include a long list of drumset, percussion, and vibraphone appearances on other musicians' albums. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music, with an emphasis on percussion.
