We often find that the clients which we treat come to us without a clear cut diagnoses. This is generally for one of the two following reasons:
1. the diagnosis is based strictly on: self-report interview symptoms (which are reported to the clinician by the client) and/or the clinician's intuition or both.
While many clinicians are very good at diagnosing mental health problems on the basis of interview and intuition, there is no objective verification. And, using one or two personality measures (as is often the case) to make a diagnosis as in number 2. above is like looking through one facet of a diamond and believing you have seen the whole gem.
