The Plaza Inn once the most modern place to stay for travelers going coast to coast on the Lincoln Highway (Hwy30).
The Lincoln Highway is the first trans-continental highway in the United States going from one coast to the other. It is also known to the locals as highway 30. It was the main road through Ogallala, Nebraska until Interstate 80 was built in the 60's.
The Plaza Inn was established around 1940 as the Welsh Motor Court, and boasted of having Murphy beds, carports and modern kitchenettes for the weary traveler. It also had a park like court yard where families could picnic. Later on a pool was added and is still used today.
