Starlab Portable Planetarium and Laser Show/Welcome
Description
This STARLAB is privately owned and operated by the Cashiers Astronomical Observers, Inc. While there are many STARLAB's operating in NC, SC, GA, and TN, we are continually reinvesting in our STARLAB equipment and special effects. These effects inside the STARLAB include special lighting, fog machines, slide programs, and even laser light programs. Astronomy should be presented in a fun and exciting manner in order to appreciate its many facets. STARLAB is one way in which this is accomplished
We have operated our STARLAB in many venues including schools in NC, SC, and GA. Others that have been served by our STARLAB include the Western North Carolina Nature Center in Asheville, NC , the NC Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC, YMCA's, Summer Camps, Public Libraries, and resorts. We have a regular program on every Monday and the STARLAB is open to the general public at the Fairfield/Sapphire Valley Resort.
We appreciate the value of a quality education. However, a quality education can be expensive at times. Rick Creel, the STARLAB Director, also serves as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA's JPL. As such, much of the educational material that is supplied, free of charge by these and other agencies, is distributed by Mr. Creel. As educators ourselves, we know how hard it can be to find valuable resources. Through the years, we have found many excellent suppliers of science related materials. We wish to share these valuable resources. These can be found by following this resources link or any of the links in the column to the left. These are provided whether you choose to use our STARLAB or not.
