Description
ABOUT SALCO,INC.
Salco, Inc. was founded in 1947by Robert T. Fischer. Originally known as Fischer Staple and Supply, Inc., the company began as a dealer of commercial and industrial stapling and shipping room products. Prior to that, Mr. Fischer was with one of the original manufacturers of stapling tools, the Markwell Manufacturing Company. He brought that experience and expertise to his own firm with the encouragement and support of the Markwell Company as one of their successful dealers.
An innovator from the beginning, Mr. Fischer was responsible for the development of certain specialty stapling tools that became benchmarks of the industry. Staple gun-tackers for the installation of telephone wire and cabling are an example of that knack.
In the mid-1950's the company began joint ventures with major European manufacturers for the production and marketing of stapling tools and products new to the U.S. market. The company changed its name to Salco, Inc. and grew to become a well known North American distributor of the finest commercial and industrial heavy-duty stapling tools and products available. Names such Isaberg-Rapid, AB and Josef Kihlberg, AB were introduced to the American market by Salco, and enjoy well-deserved reputations for quality by virtue of Salco's customer support and after-sales service.
