With very little fanfare, the International Whaling Commission has quietly added enough new members to have a majority of nations that support a return of commercial whaling.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported last week that on the eve of the commission's annual meeting in St. Kitts and Nevis that starts on June 16, the commission has a historic slim majority of pro-whaling countries. About 51 percent of the 69 member nations favor commercial whaling. More...
