From its sunny south facing position it over looks the valley floor where the river Swale meaders through glorious meadows which are surrounded by stone walls and dotted with the famous barns of Swaledale. The view changes as you climb the hillside to larger fields finally giving way to the heatherclad moorland on the hill tops.
