Description

Southern Asia-Pacific Division is one of the 12 regional organizations of the Seventh-day Adventist church which, has a 10 million worldwide membership spread in 209 countries using 717 languages. The name "Seventh-day Adventist" highlights two of the distinguishing characteristics of this Christian denomination. "Seventh-day" refers to the day of the week, Saturday, on which Adventists worship God as instructed throughout the Bible. "Adventist" refer to the hope Seventh-day Adventists have in Jesus' soon return to this earth.

The Church's mission is to communicate hope by focusing on the quality of life that is complete in Christ. Based in Singapore for the past 61 years, the former Asia-Pacific Division split due to phenomenal growth. Now, the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, which includes Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam, is reestablishing its headquarters in the Philippines, its former base before 1936.

This Division is currently divided into 10 unions and detached missions. The following countries are included in this Division: Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and islands of the Pacific, namely the United States' territories of Guam and Wake Island, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Belau, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands. It is also comprised of the Central Philippine, East Indonesia, and South Philippine Union Conferences, Bangladesh, Myanmar, North Philippine, Southeast Asia, and West Indonesia Union Missions and the Guam-Micronesia Mission of SDA and The SDA Church in Sri Lanka.
