Poland Spring has developed the Spruce Spring satellite site in Pierce Pond Township, to provide spring water to its two existing bottling plants in Maine. The proposed withdrawal rate is up to 80 million gallons per year, which is less than is currently used by a fish hatchery at this site. The maximum anticipated withdrawal rate is 222 gallons per minute during peak usage times. This amount is less than 2% of the precipitation in the watershed.
