Our SPL meters are specifically designed to measure how loud your car stereo system is. Although there are many spl meters on the market ours are the only ones that are self contained and designed for temporary mounting in a vehicle. We have two types of db meters, the first shows the spl output using a 10 segment bar graph and is capable of measuring a maximum of 140 db. The second type of spl meter or db meter shows the spl output using 4 , 8 segment LED's and is capable of measuring a maximum of 150 db.Every spl meter company uses a slightly different way of measuring spl. Some spl meters are of analog design and some spl meters use a combination of analog and digital design. We devote a whole section on the design of our spl meters on our pages called dbm tech. I have spent the vast majority of my career designing and working with spl meters and other sound measuring and producing devices.
