The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation was founded on June 18, 1991 as the Prince George Regional Hospital (PGRH) Foundation, with Myron Sambad as founding president. Since that time, it has operated under the direction of its own Board of Directors from offices within PGRH. Past Presidents include: Diane Rogers, Tom Griffiths, Harry Backlin, Myron Sambad and Del Laverdure. Current President is Diane Rogers, elected in October 2003.
September 1997 – Establishment of a membership through the Presidents Club, which recognizes annual donations and volunteered time. The membership will vote for the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meetings.
January 28, 1998 – Northern BC Friends of Children Society was incorporated under the BC Societies Act. The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation helped initiate this process, and continues to sponsor the society.
