Description
About SPiN
SPiN has over 300 members, including local authorities, health agencies, libraries, museums, central government departments, voluntary organisations and private sector companies. All are involved in disseminating or exchanging information with the public as well as with in-house staff in their own organisations. The Aims of SPiN
SPiN members, whether as users or suppliers, embrace all types of electronic public information (epi) technologies including Internet, Intranet, multimedia, public information kiosks, CD-ROM, Cable TV, Digital TV, smart cards, e-commerce, WAP, teletext and so on. More important than the technologies are the e-government issues that SPiN members are interested in - content management, accessibility, joined-up electronic service delivery, privacy, security, e-democracy, interoperability standards and epi best practice generally.
Whether you are already using these technologies, interested in these issues or just want to know more about them, SPiN can save you hours of expensive and time-consuming research. SPiN is not just for "techies" . SPiN activities and events take care to assume no technical background whatsoever....in a nutshell, SPiN is an awareness-raising network of all kinds of people involved in all kinds of public information provision.
