The cultural arts are as important to the vitality of Houston as salt is to good cooking. Houston is home to a rich and diverse artistic community; beneath the concrete and superhighways lies a river of thriving culture and artistic expression. Whether in music, theater, opera, photography, sculpture, film, cuisine or a host of other arts, Houston offers abundant opportunities to challenge the mind, elevate the spirit and delight the senses. The arts are a crucial part of our community, and must be nurtured.
One of the challenges to developing a more vibrant and diverse community in Houston is finding more effective ways to bring artists and citizens together. Until now the options for doing this have been both limited and fragmented. Spacetaker will revolutionize access to the cultural arts by providing, for the first time, comprehensive, real-time online access to the full spectrum of Houston's cultural arts scene.
The concept for Spacetaker is simple: Gather and present all possible cultural arts information in Houston to provide greater awareness and access to cultural arts organizations, artists and events. Unlike other community access websites, Spacetaker is completely and exclusively dedicated to the arts. Our content is comprehensive, up to date and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to anyone with an Internet connection -- from PCs, phones, PDAs, Blackberries, or even tools no one has thought of yet.
