The history of the firm began with Gene Brown, who started his practice of law in Grants Pass shortly after World War II. During the war, Gene served with the 101st Airborne Division and was involved in all of its major engagements. Gene was a well known attorney in southern Oregon for many years, and also served as a Senator in the Oregon State legislature for his district in the 1960s. Daniel F. Hughes joined the firm in 1970.
