After versatile careers in various endeavors, John Brock is semi-retired and writes from his home by the sea near Pawleys Island/Georgetown, South Carolina.
His columns appear weekly in South Carolina’s oldest newspaper and in several other newspapers in the Charleston, SC area. The columns depict one person’s observations of growing up and living Southern - along with occasional topics of national interest.
After college, Brock served in the US Army during the Korean War era. Upon discharge, he was a newspaper reporter and eventually served as a newspaper editor and publisher of several newspapers in the Charlotte, NC region. He was purported to be, at age 24, the youngest commercial newspaper editor in America.
