At the age of fourteen David was shooting pigeons off the cliffs around Christchurch. On joining New Zealand Forestry, he began pig hunting with dogs, then mountain hunting for red deer, tahr and chamois.
Through the 1980’s he was involved in the live deer capture industry in Southland. In 1987 he started guiding professionally.
David’s hunting career spans some 30 years. He has an intimate knowledge of the animals he hunts and of the unique mountainous terrain they inhabit.
