Soklich Trading Company (STC) beginnings date back to 1966 to our family home in Dale Place (then Kenwick Road) Orange Grove. We began as a humble mining operation with a wood processing factory to carry us through. It was soon apparent that the wood processing factory was not as dominant as our mining ventures, and soon became obsolete. Gemstones, mining and prospecting soon became our way of life.
We spent the majority of the 1960’s travelling extensively throughout the outback of Western Australia searching for gemstones and minerals of importance, gaining experience and many adventures as we went along. It was at this time that we thought that if we were so interested in learning about and collecting gemstones, maybe other people were too. It was then that we developed our warehouse to provide an outlet for retail and wholesale customers to purchase the many types of gemstones we had collected. As our business grew we started to travel the world to secure suppliers of other gemstones and minerals … then jewellery, cut gems, crystals, geodes and fossils… Then we began to process Australian Stones in our factory for export to many countries. Over the years we have perfected this art…
Many of the products that we have processed on our premises have been sourced from our own mine sites in Western Australia. Polishing of these gemstones is done with specially designed ‘vibrolaps’ – up to a quarter of a tonne of rocks at one time. These polished stones are very decorative and highly sort after. We still process the stones exactly the same way as the day we first started.
