Until November 2006, Snail Wood was a 0.6ha poplar plantation. In November 2006 the Poplars were felled and in February 2007 part of the area was replanted with 340 new trees, more planting was carried out in the Autumn of 2007 and again with the very generous support of eForests in the spring of 2008. The woodland is bounded on two sides by the river Snail.
