To provide a better quality of life for the men and women and their families in the Sheet Metal industry. In late 1952, 129 men and their families joined together to help each other improve their quality of life. The Official SMWIA Charter for Local Union #49 in Albuquerque, New Mexico was signed on January 7, 1953. It is temporarily being displayed in the beautiful old copper charter frame from El Paso Local #188.
