Sy Castro was Born Jose A Castro on June 15th 1963 on 118th Street, Pleasant Ave located on the East side of upper Manhattan. He was raised in Manhattan until the tender age of 10 and then moved to the Bronx. He was introduced to an air organ at the age of six while visiting his mothers friends home on 167th Street, Webster Ave in the Bronx on Christmas Eve 1969. He pulled out the book that came with the organ, read it and within an hour he was playing Silent Night.
