Description
Who developed SmartMap?
SmartMap was created by Jackson County's GIS Services which maintains the County's spatial data. GIS stands for geographic information systems. The GIS contains a wealth of information about the County's land, natural resources, jurisdictional boundaries and population. SmartMap has been in development since 1994, and consists of map "layers," each of which portrays a specific type of information.
SmartMap uses data compiled by Jackson County GIS Services. These data sets and a variety of custom maps are available as follows:

Users of the SmartMap web site and all associated data resources should carefully read the metadata to determine if a particular published resource is of sufficient accuracy for their particular application.
