Description
Minette is an accessories label for women, featuring handmade scarves, shawls, hats and other pieces. Minette collections embody a striking mix of traditional manufacturing techniques and modern innovative design. The designer, Minette Olson Hedin has a passion for detail and is driven by the desire to create unique items which stand on their own.
Minette created her own label in Stockholm in 2000 after having spent seven years in Manhattan as a designer. Minette began with a line of scarves which seemed appropriate given Sweden's Arctic winters and cool summers. Influenced by an old Swedish way of hand-felting, Minette created her first collection of "Dalarna" scarves which she hand-felted from local raw sheep's wool. The first two collections were sold in Stockholm and to Smaak, a boutique in downtown Manhattan specializing in Scandinavian designers.
Demand for the scarves soared in the following seasons. Since then, Minette has expanded the line to include other women's accessories. All Minette pieces are handmade or include hand-work details. Only high quality materials are used, with an emphasis on natural fibres.
