pulled from site's meta descriptionOriginal Siuslaw County group investigating viability of carving 484 sqmi off western Lane County which ORS 202 allows by petition/vote of just affected coastal voters. The coastal area has long been orphaned by the Eugene centric Lane County who use coast as a cash cow returning virtually no coastal services. This group resumed its 2005 effort in July 2012 as conditions continue to worsen leading local community leaders and communities to realize this their best long-term solution. The 2012 effort is a full and expensive campaign with surveys, studies, presentations, etc. and even alternative campaign groups.
