Shetland Broadband offers internet services across the UK but with special emphasis on the Shetland Islands where it is based. As well as offering all the usual services that most people would require such as dial-up, ADSL, hosting and domain names, there is also two services of particular interest to Shetland, wireless internet and Shetland Internet. Shetland Broadband is developing a wireless broadband service in Shetland. This service will allow an internet connection without the need for a telephone line and will also allow data transfer speeds in excess of what is currently available using conventional ADSL connections etc.
The service is of particular interest to businesses that require above normal bandwidth and /or full data transfer rates in both directions which is not available with ADSL. Wireless internet is also ideally suited for direct data connections between different company locations The service is currently being rolled out across the Lerwick area with expansion to selected outlying areas to follow.
