Hello, and welcome to ShesInRecovery.com! My name is Marilyn, and I started this community because I saw a need for a cohesive online community for women in recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction.
My background includes over two decades of freedom from mood-altering substances (except for coffee!), a-three-quarters-finished University degree in Social Work, and over twenty years working with women in various 'Human Services' capacities...
On a personal note, I've been married to Michael for nearly ever (24 years, anyway!), and we've been on the recovery journey together since the beginning; we raised 3 children who are grown and gone now, and we have two grandchildren, both boys. Our home is on the east coast of Vancouver Island (which is more-or-less in the Pacific NorthWest, on the west coast of Canada!)
