Description
The Shelton Land Conservation Trust is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to acquiring and preserving open spaces within our town. We can accept donations of land. We purchase and maintain land. The Trust's members and officers are your neighbors who are working to save some of our streams, ponds, woodlands and marshes for native wildlife and for the enjoyment and education of you and your children. Membership in the Trust is open to the public. We now hold in trust over 365 acres of land.
Every piece of land set aside becomes a spot of unspoiled beauty - helping to preserve the appeal of our town. This adds value to your property by making Shelton a more attractive place in which to live. By acquiring and preserving land, the Trust also helps promote the orderly growth of the town.
The Trust holds public meetings featuring prominent conservationists as speakers, film showings, and "live" wildlife specimen demonstrations. The Trust also conducts field trips for all ages. Newsletters and flyers are published to keep members and the public informed on vital issues effecting the Trust and land it seeks to preserve.
