Description
Shamrock Angus started out as a small calf feeding operation as a sideline in 1969. After four years the first commercial Angus cows showed up on the scene to live in the backyard and on leased pasture in the summer. These cows were sold in the fall of 1979 as I pursued other interests.
In May of 1980, our lives took another turn. We became the founding managers for good friend John Hoyt as Jolly Roger Angus emerged. Shamrock Angus bought their first registered Angus from Green Valley Angus that fall along with select cows from Schearbrook Angus. While at Jolly Roger, we implemented a successful show string plus a very intense embryo transfer program in 1981 to lead the industry.
I followed my stay at Jolly Roger with a working relation with Stevenson/Basin Inc. This gave us a chance to work with the #1 Angus producer plus add greatly to Shamrock Angus.
