About ShallIGetToBlighty.co.uk
Harold George Macklon was a soldier in the East Surrey Regiment of the British Army 1914-1918. On his return to " Blighty" he wrote a diary of his experiences. The manuscript was passed to me by my Grandmother and I decided to research World War One. I got so involved with the "Great War" I decided to add some other hopefully interesting information to help understand the context of my Great Uncles Diary. I am now seeking a publisher to enable other people see what life really like in the trenches, particularly as we approach the centenary of the start of the "War to end all Wars" Harold George Macklon was a soldier in the East Surrey Regiment of the British Army 1914-1918. Private Macklon fought on the front at Loos and Meroc in France and guarded German prisoners of war. Shortly after his return to Britain, Harold wrote a journal of his adventures in the Great War - an honest tale of trenches, battlefields and modest bravery. With the addition of some fascinating family history, facts about World War One and life in 1900's London - Shall I get to Blighty? was created - a unique biography of this tragic period of history. As we approach the centenary of The War to End All Wars, we now seek a publisher for the book Shall I get to Blighty? so others may read Harold's story.
