Sgt. Preston's Outpost was founded in 1995 in Banff, Alberta Canada. Corporal James. R. Bradley, realized that there was a tremendous demand for images, in varying formats, of the world famous " Mountie". Banff, as Canada's favourite tourist destination, hosted people from the four corners of the world, and was an obvious place to build the "FIRST EVER STORE " dedicated to the sale of merchandise bearing the logos and marks of Canada's Mounties.
Since the store opened it's doors for business, families and tour companies from around the world continue to drop by to visit. The flagship store has a full scale mail order business. In April 2000 the business was purchased by Jeanine Cann. In March 2001 the store moved from Caribou Street to the heart of downtown Banff. The store is now located on the street level of the Mount Royal Hotel on Banff Avenue. The historical hotel originally opened for business in 1908 and was named the Banff Hotel. Today the Mount Royal Hotel is owned by the world recognized Brewster Transportation and Tours.
Sgt. Preston's Outpost retails licensed merchandise of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other souvenirs bearing Canada and Banff logos. Royalties collected from the sale of the RCMP products are used to support the Mounted Police Foundation (please see Foundation on the home page.)
