Title

Earthquakes Ice Hockey - The Bay Area's Only Gay and Lesbian Ice Hockey Teams

Description

The Earthquakes are the Bay Area's only co-ed gay, lesbian, and gay-friendly ice hockey teams. Comprised of all different levels of player from all over the Bay, the SFQuakes team plays in the Yerba Buena Adult Hockey league at the YB ice rink in downtown San Francisco. The team plays in the league's "D" Division on Thursday nights. We play year round.

The team is mostly gay men and women but welcomes anyone and everyone, as long as you want to play hockey and are gay and lesbian friendly. We play straight teams, gay teams, and mixed teams. We play locally and internationally. We just love to play hockey. We have people who just picked up the sport a few years ago, we have folks that haven't played since high school, we have players in their twenties, we have players who are a bit older than that, we have players from Canada, we have players from Hawaii, we have a wonderfully diverse team.

The team travels occasionally to participate in a number of ice hockey tournaments including most recently the 2002 Gay Games VI in Sydney and the 2003 Vancouver Cutting Edges Defi Coast-to-Coast Challenge. In the past we have traveled to the Amsterdam Gay Games, the Play LA Tournament in Los Angeles, the Toronto Friendship Tournament, Slide for Pride in Seattle, and more. We even have individual players who travel to tournaments even when the team is unable to attend.
