Nishikigoi - or just simply Koi - was created in Niigata, Japan, some 200 years ago. For its superb water quality, the area around Yamakoshi in central Niigata is still the biggest Koi breeding area in the world and is the "holy land" for Koi hobbyists worldwide. Although we are some 5000km away from Niigata under somewhat different climate, we believe that we (hobbyists included) can learn a lot from the Niigata breeders on how to keep Koi and improve our knowledge on Koi.
