Description
The largest weavers' guild in the Pacific Northwest had its beginning when a small group of Seattle weavers met informally in homes. They contacted other weavers through local yarn shops, and in 1937 the Seattle Weavers' Guild was founded with 23 members.
Though the membership has grown to 290 members, the standards set by the founding members remain: to further interest in handwoven activities by promoting education of members through workshops, programs and special study groups. In addition, we are involved in community outreach through art exhibits, public demonstrations of weaving and spinning, and volunteer teaching in schools and hospitals.
In October of each year we hold our Annual Sale to offer handcrafted and one-of-a-kind garments, household items and fiber art to the public. Proceeds from the sale enable us to offer quality programs both for our members and for public enjoyment and eductation.
