Due to this success, the charity has just produced its three year plan which looks not only to further increase laboratory and clinical brain tumour research, but to increase its patient support service for both children and adults.
Chairman of Trustees, Neil Dickson, says, "When we became involved with this disease in 1996, it did not even feature on the radar screen. It was the forgotten cancer. We have changed all that in the UK and real progress is now being made. We are very optimistic of an improvement in survival rates over the next few years.
The Samantha Dickson Research Trust was first registered with the Charity Commission by Samantha’s parents, Neil and Angela in December 1996. Samantha had died with a brain tumour on the 31st October 1996, just six days before her 17th birthday.
