About SDI
SDI Diagnostic Imaging is a physician practice dedicated to providing quality healthcare imaging services in the Tampa Bay area since 1967. Founded by radiologists Dr. Charles Stern, Dr. George Drake, and Dr. Robert Isbell, at St. Joseph's Hospital, the group of Stern, Drake, Isbell, and Associates, PA, or SDI Radiology, has grown over the years to 17 radiologists and two physician assistants, with a support staff, management team and a billing service. In 2003 we changed our name to SDI Diagnostic Imaging.
SDI has grown in response to increasing service needs. Over the years, St. Joseph's Hospital has expanded to include a separate women's hospital and one for exclusively for children. We have seen the Emergency Room services substantially expand and include Bayflight helicopter ambulance service. St. Joseph's has also added outpatient diagnostic centers over the years.
For many years we owned and operated our first imaging center, Town and Country Diagnostic Center. The development of our own imaging centers has continued with the opening of SDI Diagnostic Imaging in Oldsmar in 2000 and SDI Diagnostic Imaging in South Tampa in 2003. These centers provide high quality Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography, Bone Densitometry, Helical Computerized Tomography (CT), Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, and general X-rays.
