The Centre
The Scottish Centre for Research on Social Justice (SCRSJ) was established in January 2002 and is based in The Department of Urban Studies, University of Glasgow and the Arkleton Centre for Rural Development Research, University of Aberdeen. In 2004, the Centre in Glasgow was expanded following a restructuring of research groups within the Department of Urban Studies
The SCRSJ is funded for four years (2002-2005) through a Research Development Grant (RDG) from the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council (SHEFC). Additional sources of funding include the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, the Scottish Executive, The Home Office and Communities Scotland.
Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee comprises academics, policy makers and practictioners in the social justice arena drawn from a range of public, private and voluntary organisations in Scotland and the UK. The Committee is chaired by Susan Rice, Chief Executive of Lloyds TSB in Scotland. The Committee meets annually and individual members are also invited to contribute advice at other times. The Committee's remit is to advise the SCRSJ about its research programme and wider development role.
