- Hi there. My name is Madonna Taylor. I have two hobbies….well three if you include reading. I love genealogy and I love scrapbooking. My first scrapbook, made in 1983, was all about my daughter. She was nine years old at the time and it was a Christmas gift to her, all about her. At that time I knew nothing about scrapbooking or journaling. I just took all her pictures and organized them, picked the cream of the crop, and started putting them into a magnetic spiral bound scrapbook. I never made that mistake again. Nothing was acid-free. In fact, I’d never even heard the term at that point. But I was having so much fun anyway. Every single picture had her in it. The themes were easy. A few pages were with just her and her father. Another few were with relatives holding her as a baby. All her Santa pictures were put together on two pages. It shows her on Santa’s lap year after year. I got as many different Halloween costume pictures together as I could find. Pages were dedicated to beach trips, birthdays, First Communion, Girl Scouts, camping trips and much more. I think one of my favorites is the page with all her mood pictures…laughing her head off, angry at her mom, quizzical looks on her face, surprising moments and other emotional and candid flashes of her life. She absolutely loved it. But to this day I think I had more fun putting it together than she’s had enjoying it. It is one of the highlights of my life….designing that scrapbook for my daughter.
