Description
SCORE Digital is the digital development arm of Scottish Radio Holdings plc, one of the longest established and most successful radio companies in Britain. SRH was the first company to operate digital radio in Scotland. Between August and October 1997, SRH established two digital restricted service licences. These RSLs provided an opportunity for staff to learn more about the practical elements of Eureka 147 DAB.
A continuing dialogue with potential transmission providers and other interested radio groups led to the formation of the C-DIG group in June 1999. C-DIG tackled digital radio implementation issues relevant to the commercial radio sector and included GWR, Capital, EMAP, Digital One and ntl.
SCORE successfully applied for local digital licences in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Northern Ireland, Ayr, Dundee/Perth and Inverness. SCORE launched eight programme services in Glasgow in summer 2000. Later SCORE launched the Edinburgh multiplex with seven services. Northern Ireland and Ayr followed and SCORE's multiplex interests now cover some 4m adults.
