About Janelle
Janelle first fell in love with music when she began studying the piano at age three. When she was eleven, she shifted her focus to the harp, falling in love with its deep tones and beautiful shape. Through private study and participation in orchestral ensembles, her ability to communicate through the harp's strings rapidly advanced. In junior high, she had her first opportunities to play preludes and processionals at weddings and other special events. As Janelle moved through high school, she was invited to join the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, the region's leading youth ensemble. Here, she expanded her repertoire to include challenging new solos and cadenzas. Meanwhile, she continued performing in her high school's acclaimed orchestra.
Janelle's advanced studies of the harp began with Susan Dederich-Pejovich. Ms. Dederich-Pejovich heads the harp program at Southern Methodist University in addition to her duties as principal harpist for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Continuing her study at Brigham Young University, Janelle supplemented her degree in economics with a minor in music. In late 2004, she moved to San Diego so that her husband (and webmaster) could work on his PhD in political science at UCSD. After getting settled in, she resumed working part-time as a professional harpist, offering live harp accompaniment for weddings, receptions, restaurants, hotels, parties, and other special events.
