Description
We specialise in Latin dance classes from beginners to advanced, covering all the Salsa and Merengue styles danced in such places as London, Cuba, Miami and LA. If you want to learn a few steps for fun or wish to become a professional dancer, we have the classes for you. We teach Cuban Salsa and Cross Body/LA/New York/Linear Style Salsa as well as basic Merengue which often compliments the Salsa dance. Our simple techniques on combinations, signalling, following and leading, ladies styling, advanced moves and tricks, shines and footwork will have you on the dance floor in no time. From time to time we will also bring other specialised teachers in to take classes or workshops in other dances such as Cha Cha, Ballroom, Samba, Hip Hop and capoeira.
Amanda is the only UK trained and qualified Salsa teacher in New Zealand. She trained with Orod and Dessy Ohanians for three years in London to obtain a Certificate as a qualified Salsa teacher. Orod and Dessy founded the Hamstead Latin School of Dance over 15 years ago in London. Amanda also trained with Susanna Montero and Super Mario in London for one year to learn the new style that is taking the world by storm called Cross Body Style. She has been dancing Salsa and Merengue for six years and teaching for two years in London and two years in New Zealand. Amanda was also a finalist in the UK Salsa Championships in 2001. Her speciality teaching is in ladies styling, LA combinations, shines and footwork, and special moves and tricks.
Carl has been dancing and performing Salsa and Merengue in Christchurch for two and a half years and teaching Cuban Salsa and Cross Body/LA/ New York style Salsa with Salsa Fusion since February 2004. Carl also recently competed in the 2005 South Island Salsa competition.
