Description
Father Flowers was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a life-long Episcopalian, raised at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in that city. His grandfather, Stanton Evans Dossett was the principal lay-founder of St. Paul's, and served as the first Sr. Warden there. He is the son of Elizabeth Dee, and James Edgar Flowers, now both deceased.
Father Flowers received his B.S. Degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge Louisiana in 1977. He subsequently attended Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, receiving his M.Div. Degree in 1983.
Following Seminary, he was ordained Deacon and Priest by The Rt. Rev. Maurice M. Benitez, D.D. at The Church of St. John The Divine in Houston, Texas. He served as Assistant to the Rector in that Parish, and subsequently as Chaplain Resident at Northwest Texas Hospital, Amarillo, Texas; Associate Rector as St. Mark's Church, Beaumont, Texas; and most recently as Rector of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Mansfield, Louisiana. He came as Rector of St. Timothy's in August of 1999.
