Title
Welcome to Sacred Heart School, Dunedin
Description
"The school is a Roman Catholic school in which the whole school community, through the general school programme and its religious instructions and observances, exercises the right to live and teach the values of Jesus Christ. These values are as expressed in the Scriptures and in the practices, worship, and doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church."
The school's community is also defined in terms of our Catholic context. At its broadest definition, this community is the Catholic community of the Diocese of Dunedin as a whole, but more locally it comprises the Catholic communities of the parishes of Sacred Heart and Holy Name in Dunedin. A full definition of the school's community is to be found in the school's Charter.
The Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church is our school Chaplain. During the year, opportunities for attendance at Mass and reception of the Sacraments or Blessings are provided through the school. Liturgical and cultural assemblies, prepared by the children and teachers, are also held regularly.
