- The San Augustine County Historical Foundation, established in the early 1960s, is a non-profit organization that has been interested in the preservation and restoration of the County's historical heritage for many years. With the assistance of two foundations, the Gill Foundation through it's Dallas officees and the Summerlee Foundation of Dallas, San Augustine's public records dating back to the 1830s have been preserved. A computer indexing system has been developed, making the contents of these records easily and quickly available to the public for the first time.
